Edible ice supply is a one-stop service system covering the production, cold chain distribution, and sales of food-safe ice products, tailored to catering, retail, medical, and outdoor consumption needs.
Industrial Chain Structure
(1) Upstream
It mainly includes the supply of food-grade water sources, the manufacturing of ice-making equipment (such as ice machines and molds), and the production of packaging materials. The water sources must comply with national drinking water hygiene standards, and the ice-making equipment needs to meet food-grade production requirements.
(2) Midstream
The core links are the production, processing and cold chain warehousing of edible ice. Ice production enterprises must obtain a Food Production License, adopt automated ice-making equipment, and go through processes including filtration, disinfection, freezing and molding. Meanwhile, they need to be equipped with low-temperature storage facilities to ensure ice quality.
(3) Downstream
It covers terminal sales and distribution. The sales channels include supermarkets, convenience stores, catering outlets, e-commerce platforms, etc. Distribution relies on professional cold chain logistics to ensure that ice cubes do not melt or get contaminated during transportation.
Production and Safety Standards
(1) Production Process
Water source filtration and purification → sterilization and disinfection → ice making and molding → demolding → cleaning → packaging → frozen storage → cold chain distribution. The whole process must be carried out in clean workshops with strict control over key parameters such as temperature and hygiene.
(2) Safety Standards
Edible ice production must comply with the national standard Food Safety National Standard for Edible Ice (GB 2759.1) and relevant local food safety regulations. The production environment, equipment, operators and packaging materials all need to meet corresponding hygiene requirements to prevent microbial contamination. Regular sampling inspections are required to ensure that the indicators such as total bacterial count and coliform group are within the standard range.
